Good governance is not just about meeting regulatory requirements – it is about creating clarity, accountability, and confidence at every level of an organisation. It is how Boards, leaders, and teams know that services are safe, effective, and well-led. HLTH Compliance’s Integrated Governance Support helps healthcare providers design, embed, and strengthen governance systems that are practical, proportionate, and aligned to the expectations of both the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) structures in which they operate.

Our work recognises that integrated governance is not new, but the landscape has evolved. Today, providers are expected to demonstrate not only compliance but also collaboration, population health awareness, and contribution to system outcomes. This requires a governance model that connects every aspect of leadership and assurance – clinical, financial, corporate, workforce, and information – into one joined-up, living system.
✅ A clear, structured governance framework aligned with CQC and NHS standards
✅ Reliable, evidence-based assurance for Boards and senior teams
✅ Improved consistency and visibility across all governance domains
✅ A confident understanding of system expectations and how to meet them
✅ Leadership teams that are equipped to manage governance in practice
Inside Look: Preparing a New Hospital for CQC Standards
Our team recently visited a private hospital under construction in Bristol to walk through the patient journey – from arrival to surgery and discharge – assessing and providing guidance on compliance with Health & Safety regulations and CQC standards.
Our support has included CQC registration, policy development, governance framework guidance, inspection preparation, and ongoing support for the Nominated Individual and Registered Manager. The service is now successfully CQC-registered, with continued input from our team to maintain compliance and operational readiness, through person-led and software-enabled support.
Understanding what integrated governance means in practice
Integrated governance brings together the principles of good management, clear accountability, and continuous improvement. It ensures that Boards and senior teams have visibility across all domains, that risks are managed consistently, and that decisions are based on reliable information. HLTH Compliance’s team has significant experience working with primary care providers, community health services, and clinical organisations.
We understand how to translate governance frameworks into day-to-day practice. Our role is not to produce a policy manual that sits on a shelf – it is to design a framework that becomes part of how your organisation operates and learns. Each element of our support is designed to be practical and proportionate. Smaller providers need simplicity and clarity. Larger organisations need consistency and coordination. HLTH Compliance helps tailor the framework so that it works for your specific environment.
✅ Review your current governance arrangements to identify duplication
✅ Map all areas of governance, including quality, risk, and safety
✅ Design an integrated structure that connects these domains
✅ Develop committee and reporting frameworks for your size
✅ Define decision-making pathways for clear Board roles
✅ Create a governance handbook outlining responsibilities
Embedding effective assurance & Technology
A governance framework is only effective if it generates reliable assurance. We help you build that assurance by creating reporting systems that focus on what matters most – quality, safety, risk, and improvement. We help you develop a Board Assurance Framework (BAF) that links strategic objectives to risks, controls, and sources of assurance, and create a live Risk Register that captures operational, clinical, and strategic risks.
We implement assurance maps that show how evidence is gathered across each domain and establish feedback loops from front-line teams to management and Board level. Governance should be visible and dynamic, not buried in spreadsheets. HLTH Compliance supports providers to utilise digital systems that allow real-time monitoring of quality, safety, and performance. Through HLTH Manage, our team helps you:
✅ Build assurance dashboards linked to live data sources
✅ Track incidents, audits, and action plans in one place
✅ Generate reports that feed directly into Board and ICB assurance
✅ Store evidence for inspection and self-assessment
Aligning Governance to System Priorities
Mapping Objectives:
Mapping your governance objectives to ICB outcomes, such as prevention, health inequalities, and workforce wellbeing.
Reporting Structures:
Reviewing your reporting structures so that information can be shared easily with system partners.
Collaboration Evidence:
Developing clear evidence of collaboration, joint initiatives, and population health contribution.
Documentation:
Preparing documentation and evidence packs for system assurance reviews.

System Compliance:
Ensuring your organisation is not only compliant within its own boundaries but also aligned with the direction of the wider system.
Developing leadership and governance capability
A framework alone does not create good governance – people do. HLTH Compliance delivers tailored workshops and development sessions for Boards, senior managers, and emerging leaders. Our team members are former regulators, NHS leaders, and governance professionals who have designed and implemented governance systems across health and care.
Governance is never static. HLTH Compliance provides ongoing partnership support to ensure your governance framework evolves with your organisation. Through structured follow-up reviews, dashboard updates, and coaching sessions, we help you keep governance relevant, efficient, and evidence-ready.
