CQC compliance support and consultancy

Stay inspection-ready, all year

For established providers who want CQC compliance handled properly: policies, audits, governance and someone to call when guidance changes.

What is CQC compliance support?

CQC compliance support is ongoing help for a registered provider to keep meeting the fundamental standards, the standards below which care must never fall, between inspections as well as before one. In practice that means current policies and procedures, regular audits of your evidence and advice when CQC guidance changes, delivered on site, remotely and through HLTH Manage.

We work with GP practices, clinics, ambulance services, domiciliary care and care homes to keep them compliant with the Care Quality Commission between inspections, not just before one.

Our specialists are clinicians and compliance experts, and include a former CQC Specialist Advisor. They keep your policies current, run audits against the Single Assessment Framework and give you clear guidance as CQC expectations change.

Ongoing compliance support

  • Policies and procedures kept current and tailored to your service
  • Audits and evidence review against the Single Assessment Framework
  • On-site compliance support: our specialists work alongside your team in your service
  • CQC business plan support for providers building or growing a regulated service
  • A named contact for CQC guidance and updates

CQC's framework is changing

Free CQC framework tools

CQC is piloting new sector-specific assessment frameworks: the five key questions stay, key lines of enquiry would replace the 34 quality statements, and ratings would be judged without scores. Our free guide sets today's statements beside the proposed ones, with a private evidence-gap check.

CQC compliance consultancy: what a consultant does

A CQC compliance consultant works alongside your registered manager and nominated individual to check that the service meets the regulations, and that you can show it. Our consultancy covers the whole CQC journey: registration and changes to regulated activities or locations, policies and procedures, mock inspections and audits, governance, and the action plan after an inspection.

The fundamental standards cover person-centred care, dignity and respect, consent, safety, safeguarding from abuse, food and drink, premises and equipment, complaints, good governance and staffing. A consultant helps you turn each one into systems your team runs every day and evidence an inspector can follow.

Our team includes clinicians, former registered managers and a former CQC Specialist Advisor, with experience across GP practices, NHS and private hospitals, specialist clinics, ambulance services, domiciliary care and care homes.

On-site and remote CQC consultancy

Some compliance work needs someone in the building. On site, our consultants deliver training to your team, review your documentation and processes, and give detailed feedback so you are ready for any contact with CQC.

Other work suits remote consultancy: policy reviews, organising evidence in HLTH Manage, and advice when CQC changes its guidance or its assessment approach. We scope the mix of on-site and remote support around your service and what it needs.

CQC policies and procedures

Every CQC-regulated provider needs policies and procedures that reflect the service it actually delivers and are kept up to date. They shape how the service runs day to day, and they are part of the evidence CQC looks at.

Our in-house Clinical Policies team writes bespoke policies and procedures for new providers, and reviews and updates them for established ones. We cover GP practices, NHS and private hospitals, specialist clinics, ambulance services and adult social care.

What our policies and procedures service includes

  • Bespoke policies and procedures, tailored and branded to your service
  • Written by our in-house Clinical Policies team
  • A dedicated Policy Manager for your service
  • A full suite of clinical, HR and management policies
  • Regular updates in line with CQC changes
  • Access through HLTH Manage, our compliance software

HLTH Manage alongside your consultant

HLTH Manage is our CQC compliance and HR software. It keeps your policies and procedures, staff records, e-learning, audit tools and compliance evidence in one place, so you can show an inspector how the service meets the regulations.

It includes CPD-accredited health and social care e-learning, Care Certificate training, a CQC toolkit of audit tools and templates, and an HR dashboard for leave, sickness and rota planning. Our account managers help you organise evidence across areas such as safeguarding and CQC notifications.

CQC compliance support: common questions

What does a CQC compliance consultant do?
A CQC compliance consultant helps a provider meet the regulations and show that it does. That includes reviewing policies and procedures, auditing evidence, running mock inspections, training staff and advising on changes to CQC guidance. We also support registration, changes to regulated activities or locations, and the response after an inspection.
Do you provide on-site or remote CQC consultancy?
Both. On site, we train your team, review documentation and processes and give detailed feedback. Remotely, we review policies, help organise your evidence in HLTH Manage and advise when CQC guidance changes. We scope the mix around your service.
Can you write our CQC policies and procedures?
Yes. Our in-house Clinical Policies team writes bespoke, branded policies and procedures for new providers and reviews and updates existing sets. Each provider has a dedicated Policy Manager, and policies are kept up to date as CQC guidance changes.
What are the CQC fundamental standards?
CQC describes the fundamental standards as the standards below which care must never fall. They cover person-centred care, visiting and accompanying, dignity and respect, consent, safety, safeguarding from abuse, food and drink, premises and equipment, complaints, good governance and staffing, among others. CQC checks new services are likely to meet them when it registers them.
Can you guarantee a CQC rating?
No. No one can guarantee a regulator's decision, and a consultancy that promises a rating is overselling. What we can do is show you where your evidence is weak, help you fix it and make sure your team can explain how the service works.
